Three months after the teen drama premiered, the streaming platform confirmed that a second season was in the works. “See you in the Bahamas ,” a post on the official Outer Banks Instagram account teased at the time.
“Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four season, maybe five season show, but definitely four seasons,” showrunner Jonas Pate told Entertainment Weekly in April 2020, revealing that “Netflix had greenlit” the team to work on season 2 scripts “before [season 1] even came out.”
The final episode of the first season left viewers on a major cliffhanger, with Pogue crew member John B. (Chase Stokes) and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) attempting to outrun the police after Sarah’s dad (Charles Esten) frames John B. for murder. Though they escaped North Carolina’s Outer Banks, fans shouldn’t rule out their triumphant return to the islands.
“The Pogues think that John B. and Sarah are dead,” Pate told the outlet. “So, we realized that gave us some dramatic possibilities that we could explore before we get them all reunited. We love that part of the show, having the Pogues together. That’s when we feel like this show is working the best.”
The producer continued: “There will definitely be some new mysteries and some new ideas. It all comes off the same spine of the same story but it branches out in ways that hopefully the audience won’t see coming.”
Stokes starred alongside fellow Pogues J.J. (Rudy Pankow), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Kiara (Madison Bailey), all of whom are returning for season 2. Cline and Esten are also reprising their roles, along with Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Rafe) and Deion Smith (Kelce).
Netflix released the first official images from the upcoming season in May 2021, confirming that new episodes will debut that summer. Though fans have plenty of theories about what messes the characters will get into throughout season 2, Cline hopes most of the audience stays spoiler-free.
“I want people to watch this without knowing too much,” she told Entertainment Tonight in November 2020. “I want people [to be] going into it kind of blind, [but] the stakes are higher and the mystery gets deeper.”

The retired MLB player showed off his slim — but muscular — bod in a set of stylish Instagram photos on Wednesday, July 28, shortly after ringing in his 46th birthday in St. Tropez, France.
“1 or 2? #whichsuitsyou,” he captioned the snaps, one of which featured him rinsing off on the deck of a yacht in nothing but a pair of shorts. He placed one hand on his hip while posing shirtless, in contrast to the second photo, which showed him fully clothed in a sharp suit.
Rodriguez and Lopez, 52, were engaged for two years before announcing in April that they were going their separate ways. At the time, the duo told Today that they were “better as friends.” In a matter of weeks, the Hustlers actress was spotted getting cozy with Ben Affleck, instantly sparking rumors that she’d rekindled her flame with the Oscar winner, 48.
“Jen and Alex had planned to go to the French Riviera for J. Lo’s birthday this year and neither of them changed their plans,” a source told Us of the coincidental celebrations. “Alex didn’t know Jen would still be going, but he wasn’t fazed when he found out her boat was nearby. He was distracted with his own guests.”
According to the insider, the former pro athlete is “really enjoying” his single status.
While Rodriguez rang in his birthday as a bachelor, his former fiancée was falling even harder for the Gone Girl actor. “[They] wanted to share their love with the world,” a second source revealed, adding that the twosome are in a “great place” with their relationship. “[J. Lo] called it her best birthday yet.”
Disney released a statement saying there was “no merit” to Johansson’s filing.
“This lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney has fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of Black Widow onDisney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date,” the company’s comment on the lawsuit read.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday, July 29, Johansson, 36, claimed that the theatrical debut was undercut when Disney also offered fans the chance to stream the film online. Black Widow hit theaters on July 9 and also starts Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz.
“Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel,” the legal documents stated.
Disney implemented the joint theater and streaming service release amid the COVID-19 pandemic as lockdowns limited audience members’ access to the big screen. Instead, fans were given the option to watch new releases on Disney+, which Johansson’s legal team claimed went against the promise of box office exclusivity and affected her profit.
“This will surely not be the last case where Hollywood talent stands up to Disney and makes it clear that, whatever the company may pretend, it has a legal obligation to honor its contracts,” the Avengers star’s attorney, John Berlinski, argued.
“Honestly, I feel like it’s always, it feels great to leave a party when it’s still raging and I think that this film feels very much like it’s alive and fresh and powerful and I feel really pleased with it,” the New York native told ComicBook. “I feel really happy with the work that we’ve done for this decade of time and, you know, it’s bittersweet to say, ‘Goodbye,’ but if you love something, you need to set it free!”
Natasha Romanoff’s death was previously revealed in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame when she sacrificed her life to secure the Soul Stone and save Hawekye (Jeremy Renner).
“I would love to be able to continue to collaborate with Marvel in other ways because I think there’s just an incredible wealth of stories there. Re-imagining this genre is something that I find very interesting,” the Marriage Story star explained in an interview with Fatherly earlier this month.
“We saw a million little miracles yesterday — the best one being this girl right here,” the Duck Dynasty alum captioned her daughter’s Instagram debut at the time. “Honey. The pure goodness of God. Story to come, but I’m way too occupied right now by cuteness. 5.11.21.”
Her husband posted the same hospital photos on his own account, writing, “Welcome to the world, sweet honey girl.”
The former reality star’s mom, Korie Robertson, was present for her granddaughter’s birth and wrote via Instagram that she had “no words” for the major moment.
“Honey James Huff you are a little miracle!” Korie gushed. “We love you dearly and can’t get enough of every single detail of you. Your mom is absolutely, utterly amazing, and your dad is simply the best coach and encourager ever! There is nothing those two won’t do for you! You have a whole bunch of us that couldn’t be more excited that you’re here, and are going to be loving you and rooting you on your entire life. We can’t wait to see what God has planned for you! Welcome to the fam, Honey.”
She went on to share photos of herself and husband Willie Robertson posing with the infant. The couple planned to be called “Kmama and Dubz,” she revealed.
Sadie announced seven months prior that she was pregnant with her and Huff’s first child. The couple chose their daughter’s name before her birth, explaining that the moniker was inspired by Proverbs 16:24.
“Gracious words are like HONEY, sweetness to the soul and health to the body,” Sadie captioned an April 2021 Instagram photo of a stuffed animal wearing a “Honey” sweater. “I’ve always loved this verse. It’s made me have a love for the idea of all that honey is. It’s a sweet delicacy with a strong healing component. When Christian and I started dating, we went through the book of Proverbs together and I remember getting to chapter 16 and as I read verse 24 I said to him, ‘You have words like honey. They are so sweet and are healing places in my heart I didn’t even know needed to be healed.’”
The Live author called her then-boyfriend the “boy with the honey words,” she went on to write. “Fast forward two and a half years later and we have a daughter on the way who we so proudly get to name after one of the loveliest words. Not to mention this word reminds me of my great-grandma who calls everyone she loves honey.”
“He’s going to be okay,” Nick, 22, wrote via his Instagram Story on Wednesday, July 28.
The Fargo alum’s rep also confirmed the good news, telling Us Weekly in a statement on Wednesday that the star and his family “would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side.”
Bob’s rep revealed that the Emmy winner was hospitalized due to a “heart-related incident,” adding that he is now “in stable condition” at an Albuquerque, New Mexico, hospital.
The statement concluded: “The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”
The Birthday Boys writer and producer, who shares Nate and daughter Erin, 20, with wife Naomi Odenkirk, was sent to the hospital on Tuesday after he collapsed on the set of Better Call Saul. Crew members immediately called an ambulance after his fall, according to Variety.
After news broke of Bob’s health scare, fans and actors alike took to social media to send well-wishes his way in hopes of a speedy recovery.
“Today I woke up to news that has made me anxious all morning,” Bryan Cranston, who starred alongside Bob on Breaking Bad, wrote via Instagram. “My friend, Bob Odenkirk collapsed last night on the set of Better Call Saul. He is in the hospital in Albuquerque and receiving the medical attention he needs but his condition is not known to the public as yet. Please take a moment in your day today to think about him and send positive thoughts and prayers his way, thank you.”
Aaron Paul, who also acted with Cranston, 65, and Bob on the AMC drama, wrote, “I love you my friend,” via his Instagram account.
Mr. Show With Bob and David cocreator David Cross reassured his fans that Bob “will get through this,” via Twitter, calling the Nobody star “one of the strongest people I know both physically and spiritually.
Los Angeles divorce attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, who has represented celebrities including Kevin Federline, Charlie Sheen and Paula Abdul but is not affiliated with the Mr. & Mrs. Smith costars’ case, is weighing in on what the actress’ win means for the exes moving forward. The high-powered Hollywood lawyer estimates that Jolie, 46, and Pitt, 57, have already spent “hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not in the millions” on litigation.
“And it could be more if they start over again,” Kaplan exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Nothing is more expensive than a hotly contested custody [dispute]. I’m sure both of these people can afford to [keep litigating], which is not the reason to do it, but that’s probably not going to be a major factor for either of them given their respective wealth.”
“The case has been sent back to the Los Angeles Superior Court,” a source exclusively told Us earlier this month. “Judge Ouderkirk is no longer involved and Angelina is grateful to seek a fair decision regarding custody for the children.”
“She’s still got an uphill battle because now there is historical observation rather than future projection [of how the children are doing],” the legal expert tells Us.
The judge’s removal did not shake Pitt either. “The appeals court ruling was based on a technical procedural issue. The facts haven’t changed,” a spokesperson for the Fight Club star told Us in a statement on Friday. “There is an extraordinary amount of factual evidence which led the judge — and the many experts who testified — to reach their clear conclusion about what is in the children’s best interests. We will continue to do what’s necessary legally based on the detailed findings of what’s best for the children.”
And from barely-there bottoms to bathing suits with body jewelry, it’s safe to say that 2021 has seen some seriously sexy snaps.
Whether they’re just chilling their backyard or soaking up the sun on vacation, celebs have been heating up our Instagram feeds all year long.
While some will rock a simple suit, many like to put their own stylish spin on swimwear. This year has seen a resurgence of everything from ‘90s trends to western influence.
One summer accessory they can’t seem to get enough of? Bucket hats! Nina Agdal anticipated the trend in January, with Simone Biles following in her footsteps come March.
Our favorite take on the look however was done by Addison Rae. The 20-year-old TikTok star committed to the vibe, opting for a purple bucket hat, floral print bikini top, leopard mini skirt and slinged-back pumps.
Hailey Baldwin found herself turning to Y2K for a style cue too, rocking rainbow rubber bands in her hair.
When the stars aren’t channeling the early aughts, many have looked to western style for inspo. Everyone from Olivia Jade to Dua Lipa has decided that adding a pair of leather boots and a cowgirl hat is the coolest new summer look. And hey, who are we to argue?!
Obviously, there are always stars who like to show off their swimwear splurges. Be it Larsa Pippen’s chic Chanel suit or SZA’s Dior bikini, there’s no question that this year has seen a fair share of designer duds.
A special shoutout goes to Emily Ratajkowski, who rang in her birthday this year in a gorgeous mermaid-inspired Versace bikini. Donatella Versace even gave the star her stamp of approval, commenting on the model’s post. “The birthday mermaid!!! you look STUNNING @emrata,” the fashion designer wrote.
While those couture suits cost a pretty penny, other celebs reach for bikinis a lower price point. Some of their faves come from Frankies Bikinis, Triangl, Boohoo and Cotton:On.
Just as the stars like to dress up in super stylish summer suits though, they also like to strip down. Delilah Belle Hamlin and Heidi Klum are among those that have sent temperatures soaring in nearly nothing, taking to Instagram to share topless pics.

Planning ahead — just in case! Kailyn Lowry opened up about her struggle with polycystic ovary syndrome and her plans to freeze her eggs during part one of the Teen Mom 2 reunion on Tuesday, July 27.
“I was doing [egg harvesting] first, and I’m glad I started doing it, because then I found out I have PCOS,” the reality star, 29, explained. “I’m not even saying I would have more [kids], I just want the possibility, if five years from now, I do meet the love of my life and we want to have kids, I have healthy eggs.”
Lowry shares son Isaac, 11, with ex-husband Jo Rivera, son Lincoln, 7, with ex-husband Javi Marroquin and sons Lux, 3, and Creed, 11 months, with ex Chris Lopez. In April, she opened up about learning she has the hormonal disorder.
“The diagnosis has been a little bit overwhelming for me. The medication has insane side effects, and I’m just trying to figure out the best ways to manage the symptoms because the diagnosis came just as fast as the symptoms came,” the Pride Over Pity author told Us Weekly at the time. “So it’s just kind of all, like, new and overwhelming. But we’re gonna figure out a way to manage it and, and we’ll work it out.”
The “Baby Mama No Drama” podcast cohost added that she was going through IVF and egg retrievals just in case. “My kids are getting older,” she said, noting that she really enjoys her “independence and kind of getting [her] time back,” so wasn’t planning on expanding her brood anytime soon.
As for whether she’ll try for a girl in the future, she wasn’t sure, telling Us, “Maybe, maybe not.”
In March, Lowry detailed her PCOS diagnosis even further during a “Coffee Convos” podcast episode.
“I was having such heavy periods,” the Pennsylvania native said at the time. “I was bleeding through three and four changes of clothes per day during my period … and I would bleed through my mattress. I would bleed through everything.”
“The first couple weeks [of my pregnancy], I was feeling pretty sick, but then leading up to the doctor’s appointment, I’d been feeling better, which, in hindsight I guess wasn’t a good thing,” the reality star, 30, said during a confessional with husband Zach Roloff at her side.
She and the Oregon native, 31, told their family and friends about their pregnancy news when she was two weeks along — then found they had lost the baby during an ultrasound appointment.
“It was all standard,” Zach, who shares son Jackson, 4, and daughter Lilah, 20 months, with his wife, recalled. “They rub the stuff on the belly, the machine gets going and just the tone of the ultrasound tech and the tone of the room kind of shifted, and we realized maybe something’s not right here.”
While the ultrasound tech “couldn’t give away” the miscarriage because “that’s not her job,” Tori noted that the woman apologized before leaving the room. When their doctor entered, she gave them a hug. “[That’s when] we just knew,” Tori tearfully explained.
“Everyone says it’s nothing that I did or we did, it was just [that] this baby wasn’t viable for life, but it’s hard to, like, not wonder what happened on that day,” she continued. “But it is common. It happens to more people than you think, but you just never think it’s gonna happen to you especially after two full term babies and zero complications. I think that’s why it hit us, especially me, so hard.”
The “hardest part” for Tori was “feeling normal again.” As for Zach, he described the struggle to watch Tori “process” the loss.
“I want to support her however I can,” he said. “It’s upsetting to watch her go through something like this. It brings about new empathy. … She had, like, eight weeks of feeling pregnant and now she’s not.”
While Zach’s parents, Matt Roloff and Amy Roloff, shared their desire to be there for the couple in Tuesday’s episode, Tori “just kind of want[ed] to be left alone” with her family.
She shared her miscarriage with her Instagram followers in March, writing, “I’ve honestly never felt loss like I did in that moment. I’ve never felt so sad, angry and scared in a single moment. I had no symptoms of losing [our] sweet angel baby and nothing could have prepared me for hearing our sweet baby was gone.”
